HOW TO: Save Your Skin from Sahara-Like Indoor Heating
Skin’s biggest enemy in the winter times ? I guess central heating !
Adding to cold temperatures and low humidity, indoor heating is wreaking havoc on your skin by making it flaky dry. So, to keep your skin hydrated and balanced, you need to do something, and here we are to help you prevent your skin from screaming because of dryness. Make your skin THANK YOU from the deep inside, with the bySophie team !
Carry Around a Water Bottle and Stay Hydrated
It might sound too obvious, but drinking enough water is maybe the most important thing to do. An adequate daily fluid intake, recommended by health experts, is about 15.5 cups ( 3.7 liters ) a day for men and about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) a day for women. ( SHOCKER ! ) Yeah, it’s a lot, and there are so many people who don’t even drink half of it because it feels somewhat troublesome to go get water every time or they’re just not used to drinking water regularly. We do get it, but still ! You need to do something about it. So try starting with carrying a big bottle full of water and putting it beside you, then you can keep unconsciously perceiving the presence of it and will naturally take more sips.
Get a Humidifier
When you’ve already filled inside your body with more water but still feel crispy dry, it might be a sign that your surrounding environment needs some adjustments. When heating runs in winter, indoor humidity level drops mostly under 15%, and this is too little water in the air that your body moisture can’t help but evaporate. That’s when investing in a humidifier can save your skin from being parched. So why not get a humidifier? ( and set your room humidity level to at least 30% ! ) Controlling surrounding humidity will make a huge difference! For sure!
Use Sheet Masks
If you want to visually experience a change on your face. There’s nothing easier and quicker than throwing on a sheet mask. Besides, a sheet mask can provide instant and immediate hydration to your skin, so it is super effective for quickly managing an ongoing dryness crisis of your skin. What’s even better is that there are so many great nourishing sheet masks out there so most of the time, you can choose a product that can fulfill the exact needs of your skin concerns. Include a Lip Balm into Your Skincare Routine
So many people take care of their face skin very well, and some invest so much time and money into it. But ironically, not many of them take lips as seriously as they care about their skin. But the fact is that lips are part of your face, and they also NEED to be moisturized. If you don’t want to have perfectly moisturized skin and chapped and flaky dry lips at the same time. Include a lip balm into your skincare routine and take good regular care of them. A SWEET OPTION HERE
