Korean Personal Color Trend
Simple Color Theory By Season
Do you know your personal colors?
Have you ever tried a new lipstick that didn’t look quite right on? Or have you ever had a new piece of clothing that just didn’t look so flattering on but you didn’t know why? Chances are, you have yet to discover your personal color.
Color is a powerful tool that evokes emotions and helps convey to the world about who you are in the moment. Whether you seek ethereal purples in an attempt to escape, or comforting browns that prompt warm memories — the colors in our environment often shape our lives.
In Korea, there has been the recent intrigue of personal colors otherwise known as seasonal color or skin-tone matching. Many beauty-fanatics are in search of their “perfect” color scheme when shopping for clothing and cosmetics.
While it may seem confusing at first, don’t fret! We are here to present a guide to find your most suitable colors.
Firstly, there is an important difference between warm tone (yellow base) and cool tone (blue base). Here are some common associations to help figure out your undertone:
Do you prefer to wear gold or silver accessories?
Does your veins have a slight olive hue or blue/purple hue?
Is your skin more likely to look pink or yellow?
For those who enjoy gold jewelry, have a slight olive hue to their veins and are more likely to have a yellow tint to their skin — you are most likely a warm tone!
For those who prefer silver jewelry, have a slight blue/purple hue to veins, and are more likely to look pink-ish — you are most likely a cool tone!
Within each of the seasons, there are three color palettes. Amongst these palettes, there should be one that most compliments you. Usually, wearing these colors would brighten your complexion
Tip: if wearing a certain color creates shadows on your face, it may not be the most suitable palette for you!
