Retinol is a great skincare ingredient, except for a small drawback: it makes your skin ultra-sensitive, so you can’t use it during the daytime.

Meet Bakuchiol, the star ingredient of Slosophy’s Newtinol Toner, which solves that problem while giving your skin the same benefits as retinol.

What is Bakuchiol?

A vegan, plant-based alternative to retinol that has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. Similar to retinol, it promotes a healthy cell turnover cycle.

The Toner

Slosophy’s Newtinol Toner is a hypoallergenic, “essential liquid” formula, which helps to hydrate and prep skin. It can even be layered on multiple times for a moisturizing effect, reducing a complicated skincare routine into what the brand calls a “skip-care” routine. Even better, the bottle can be upcycled in creative ways after use, and purchased with or without the leather holder. Other ingredients include ectoine for accelerating skin recovery and regeneration, winter cherry extract for protecting damaged cells, and fructose for retaining the skin’s moisture. The formulation is gentle enough to be used in nighttime and daytime routines.

The toner is as described, with a lightweight yet moisturizing texture. It doesn’t feel sticky and softly preps my skin for the next step. In the first week I was testing it, there was one night that I forgot to use it and I immediately noticed that my skin felt dry the next morning. On other days when my skin is a little oily, I skip cream and instead use three layers of the toner, leaving me feeling hydrated but not heavy. For someone like me who is hesitant to use retinol due to my sensitive skin, this toner is such a great alternative. Try Slosophy’s Newtinol Toner for simplified “skip care” on hot and humid summer days!
